What is a Lancia? I know it is an Italian sports car, but why did they stop making them?

They never stop making cars; from 1976 they're part of FIAT group, but the cars are sold with Lancia brand (like Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, both part of FIAT, as well).

There always been at least one Lancia between the top 10 car sold in Italy every year.

They're currently not making sport cars anymore, instead (Lancia Stratos was very successfull during 70s in rally competitions); and they're market share is currently small or medium car, while bigger car are from Alfa Romeo.

They are actually still being made. Where did you find out that they weren't?

There was no market for them. I think they were bigger in rally racing than selling cars.
